Why should mobile phones be kept away from your key fob?

Hey DUO members, do you know it is not advisable to place your mobile phone near your car key fob? This is because the keyless access with a push-button start system uses weak radio waves which may be scrambled by mobile phones in close proximity.

Moreover, carrying your access key fob with your laptop or other metallic object/accessories could also interfere with the communication between the key fob and the vehicle. This could result in the key fob being unable to lock and unlock the doors or start the engine.
