The All-New Nissan Teana

NISSAN LAUNCHES ALL-NEW TEANA IN SINGAPORE

The sixth generation model, its history beginning under the name of Nissan Cefiro back in 1989, Teana has reinvented itself with exciting innovations such as NASA inspired Zero Gravity Seats, an Advanced-Drive Assist display and next generation Xtronic CVT. Paired with its new ZF Sachs Multi-link suspension and Active Understeer Control, the sedan promises a refreshing and dynamic driving performance with comfort and luxury.

Key features of the new Teana includes:
•    Refreshed exterior and interior design
•    NASA inspired “Zero Gravity Seats”
•    Advanced Drive-Assist Display

Fresh New Look, In and Out
On its exterior, the Nissan Teana has been redesigned for a more modern look – its larger dimensions establishes its presence while a seamless and deep character line cuts across its body. Adding on to its updated look are bold and distinctive projector headlamps and large LED tail lamps.
The new Nissan Teana’s interior feels more premium than ever, with a choice between ivory leather with maple wood finishing and charcoal leather with graphite black finishing. Its interior trim is highlighted by silver colour accents and chrome rings.
The transmission of noise into the cabin has been reduced through use of a more rigid body with an improved design of the side view mirrors, A-pillar moldings, upgraded engine, exhaust and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning) mounts.

NASA inspired “Zero Gravity Seats”
With the desire to help reduce driving fatigue experienced during long commutes, Nissan studied seating and posture research from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Utilizing a new articulated seat shape with continuous support from the pelvis to the chest and distribution of localized deformation characteristics, Teana’s “zero-gravity” seats help reduce muscular and spinal loads and improve blood flow. This way, it helps to reduce fatigue over long periods behind the wheel. Seat surface perforations provide increased ventilation, breathability and comfort.

Advanced Drive-Assist Display
Another new innovation in Teana is its Advanced Drive-Assist Display (ADAD). With so many external distractions in everyday driving, the ADAD puts key information right in front of the driver in an intuitive 3D-effect depth and tilt display to help drivers focus on the road.
Located between the tachometer and speedometer, the ADAD’s 4.0-inch colour display is closer and easier to read than traditional center-stack information monitors. The sysem is customizable and adjustable using the steering wheel controls. Drivers can view information such as audio system display and drive information.

An Exhilarating Drive – next generation Xtronic CVT, new suspension with Active Understeer Control
The new Teana is powered by 3 engine choices: 2.0L, 2.5L or 3.5L (available in 2014). Paired with Nissan’s next-generation Xtronic CVT, drivers can expect an exhilarating and seamless drive that is equivalent to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
With more than 20 years in developing continuously variable transmission technology, Nissan has produced globally more than nine million CVT-equipped vehicles which offer responsive acceleration and excellent fuel efficiency.
A full 70 percent of the parts have been redesigned, which along with a downsized oil pump, lower oil level and low viscosity oil results in up to 40 percent reduction in internal friction (versus the previous design).
The new CVT also features expanded gear ratio coverage, with a lower first gear and higher ratio overdrive. New control logic and expanded gear ratio coverage help reduce noise and fuel consumption while improving drivability and responsiveness. For example, during cruising the expanded ratio lowers engine rpm at highway speeds for a quieter ride and improved NVH versus an automatic transmission. When starting from a full stop the continuously varying ratios (compared to step automatic transmissions) results in seamless acceleration. And, when accelerating while passing, acceleration is smooth and confidence-inspiring due to no stepped gear changes and minimized shift shock.
The new intelligent CVT logic also includes a Lift Foot Hold function that holds the gear ratio if the accelerator pedal is momentarily released and then reapplied, such as when merging onto a freeway; and a Brake Downshift function that “downshifts” the transmission when braking is applied before entering a corner, so re-acceleration is enhanced when exiting the corner because the CVT is already in a lower gear ratio.
Along with greatly enhanced driving feel, the result of the new CVT redesign is an improvement in fuel economy from the previous generations.
Contributing to the exceptional driving comfort is Teana’s new multi-link rear suspension that utilizes a special shock absorber design by ZF SACHS and incorporating Active Understeer Control. The shocks use state-of-the-art valve technology to help control wheel hop and harshness, resulting in reduced transmission of vibrations to the cabin for enhanced body control and response, and a smooth, quiet ride.
